Local Water & Sewer Operators Finish in the Top Ten in

National Competition

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Water and sewer operators from The Northwestern Water & Sewer District (The District), team “Dirty Deeds”, finished in sixth place overall after competing in the national “Operations Challenge” at the Water Environment Federation’s Technical Exhibition & Conference (WEFTEC) in Chicago.  This is the highest rank the team has placed in the overall competition since they stared participating in the Challenge five years ago.

The “Ops Challenge” is an intense competition involving timed events in wastewater treatment operations, maintenance, laboratory, safety and collection systems.

At WEFTEC, operations teams from across the United States, and some international teams including teams from Argentina, Denmark and Canada, participate in the challenge. Northwest Ohio’s “Dirty Deeds” team competed against a total of thirty-seven teams in division two.

The Dirty Deeds team members include Claud Barringer, Bryan Martikan, Tom McGrain, Jarred Myers, and Todd Saums.

The District thanks the Ohio Water Environment Association (OWEA) for sponsoring the all three Ohio teams in this elite competition.
