Protecting Lake Erie: Northwood Wastewater Basin

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio, - The Northwestern Water and Sewer District (The District) is hosting tours of one the largest wastewater projects in Wood County.  Construction on the $5.8 million Northwood wastewater equalization (EQ) basin project, located between Williston Road and Curtice Road in Northwood, Ohio, has finally wrapped up.

The District will host tours of the new facility on Tuesday evening, October10th, from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The new basin captures rainwater entering the wastewater treatment system in Oregon and holds it for later treatment, protecting Lake Erie by reducing sewer overflows.  During significant rainfall events, wastewater will be held in the basin and released as the wastewater treatment plant capacity allows.

The District will hold public tours of the facility on Tuesday evening, allowing interested residents a chance to see the basin and ask The District project team questions.
